April 26, 2023 (MLN): China has produced 84.972 tonnes in the first quarter of 2023, recording an increase of 1.88% YoY in gold production, data released on Wednesday from the China Gold Association showed.
Additionally, the country consumed 291.58 tonnes, up by 12.03% YoY.
The growth was driven by strong demand for gold jewelry, which stood at 189.61 tonnes up by 12.29% YoY, gold coins and bars standing at 83.87 tonnes up by 20.47% YoY, while consumption for industrial and other uses declined to stand at 18.1 tonnes down by 16.9% YoY.
