April 28, 2023 (MLN): The capital market on Friday remained in green throughout the session as strong buying activity was witnessed across the board, marking an intraday high of 41,790.71.
Investors cheered the earning season wherein banks and tech-related companies posted exceptional results.
Furthermore, the news pertaining to the approval of the refinery policy forced investors to buy refinery stock.
As a result, the benchmark KSE-100 index ended the trading session with a gain of 116.94 points to close at 41,580.85.
Of the 94 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 51 closed up 42 closed down, while 1 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 126.38 million shares.
Sectors propping up the index were Commercial Banks with 69 points, Pharmaceuticals with 40 points, Chemical with 18 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 15 points and Food & Personal Care Products with 13 points.
The most points added to the index were by UBL which contributed 91 points followed by MEBL with 21 points, DAWH with 17 points, MARI with 15 points, and HINOON with 12 points.
Sector-wise, the index was let down by Technology & Communication with 67 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 12 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 7 points, Cement with 3 points and Cable & Electrical Goods with 2 points.
The most points taken off the index was by SYS which stripped the index of 55 points followed by HBL with 30 points, OGDC with 17 points, PPL with 16 points and FABL with 15 points.
All Share Volume increased by 98.98mn to 268.08mn shares. Market Cap increased by Rs31.52 billion.
The total companies traded were 337 compared to 342 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 165 closed up, 154 closed down and 18 remained unchanged.
Total trades increased by 23,137 to 119,076.
Value Traded increased by 2.73bn to Rs8.98bn
