April 12, 2023 (MLN): After enduring a rough ride, the trading floor of the local bourse observed a sigh of relief as investors welcomed the news flows wherein the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is likely to provide a written guarantee for $1 billion in financing this week.
The improved sentiments resulted in heavy buying activity which led the benchmark KSE-100 index to add 321.34 points by the end of the session.
As a result, the index settled today's session at 40,126.05, marking an intraday high of 40,174.20 and a low of 39,800.47.
Of the 90 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 56 closed up 32 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 46.80 million shares.
Sectors propping up the index were Technology & Communication with 95 points, Commercial Banks with 81 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 78 points, Fertilizer with 34 points and Power Generation & Distribution with 10 points.
The most points added to the index were by SYS which contributed 87 points followed by PPL with 38 points, OGDC with 31 points, HBL with 28 points and EFERT with 22 points.
Sector-wise, the index was let down by Insurance with 8 points, Automobile Assembler with 5 points, Tobacco with 3 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 2 points and Paper & Board with 1 point.
The most points taken off the index were by HMB and MTL which stripped the index of 8 points each followed by EFUG and MARI with 6 points and ENGRO with 4 points.
All Share Volume increased by 20.16mn to 79.83mn shares. Market Cap increased by Rs34.92 billion.
The total companies traded were 328 compared to 288 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 172 closed up, 134 closed down and 22 remained unchanged.
Total trades increased by 13,989 to 49,374.
Value Traded increased by 1.20bn to Rs2.57bn.
