International Business on the Rise: Congrats to the Class of 2024

This May, the Center for Global Business proudly celebrates its largest class yet! The Class of 2024 is more than twice as large as any class in over 10 years, with 32 future global leaders receiving their degree in International Business. This dramatic increase in graduating students has been driven by a steady increase in enrollment in the IB major, with annual enrollment in the IB major up 60% over the past four years. The Class of 2024 marks a new generation of global leaders prepared to change the world! This increased interest and enrollment began in the when the Class of 2024 entered UT in the Fall of 2020. That year, the International Business program was expanded to include a new interdisciplinary curriculum that allowed IB majors focus on the aspects of global business they found most engaging. (More on the new curriculum is available here .) International Business students build their global mindset through international experience in additional to interdisciplinary coursework. Before joining the ranks of CGB alumni, this year’s class was given the opportunity to share why they chose the IB major and what they enjoyed most about the experience: Many expressed an appreciation for the new interdisciplinary coursework, with comments like “ I enjoyed the opportunity gain a holistic view of the global business context ” and “ I wanted to learn about business on a global scale, and the IB courses offered the most strategic framework to do so .” Graduates also expressed appreciation for the support and resources provided by the Center for Global Business, noting the “tight knit” community among CGB’s students, the benefits of being part of a small program at a large university, and the mentoring they received from the CGB Board of Advisors . As alumni, the Class of 2024 will have the opportunity to contribute to that support by sharing their experience, joining CGB at events throughout the year, and staying connected as part of CGB’s growing network of global professionals. And by bringing their global mindset to their chosen professions, they will undoubtedly prove that “what starts here changes the world!”
