PSX Closing Bell: KSE-100 index gains 41.13 points

April 17, 2023 (MLN): The capital market on Monday remained lackluster as investors preferred to opt 'wait and see' strategy pertaining to the discussions going on between IMF and the government before making any strategic move. 
As a result, the benchmark KSE-100 index could only add 41.13 points to end the session at 40,246.67.
The Index traded in a range of 190.22 points or 0.47 percent of the previous close, showing an intraday high of 40,372.59 and a low of 40,182.37.

Of the 91 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 39 closed up 49 closed down, while 3 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 46.92 million shares.
Sectors propping up the index were Fertilizer with 50 points, Automobile Assembler with 22 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 20 points, Tobacco with 15 points and Miscellaneous with 9 points.
The most points added to the index were by ENGRO which contributed 40 points followed by HUBC, MTL and PAKT with 15 points and FFC with 12 points.
Sector-wise, the index was let down by Cement and Technology & Communication with 24 points, Commercial Banks with 12 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 7 points.
The most points taken off the index was by SYS which stripped the index of 23 points followed by LUCK with 16 points, EPCL with 13 points, MEBL with 9 points and MUREB with 6 points.
All Share Volume increased by 5.59mn to 94.78mn shares. Market Cap increased by Rs15.14bn.
The total companies traded were 316 compared to 311 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 151 closed up, 141 closed down and 24 remained unchanged.
Total trades decreased by 3,815 to 48,387.
Value Traded increased by 0.29 Billion to Rs.3.06 Billion
